Keto is a word you hear everywhere these days.

Can you deliver keto? Be sure to read on if that's not the case.

What is keto?

Keto refers to ketosis, a process in which the body fat burns. This happens when the body does not receive enough sugars (glucose) to produce energy. The liver then uses dietary fats, breaking them down into smaller particles called ketones. The body uses those ketones. as energy source. That they can cross the blood-brain barrier ensures that they can also provide energy to the brain.

Ketogenic eating, how do you do that?

That your body will start burning fats on its own sounds very appealing. There is even a special diet to kickstart this process, namely The Ketogenic Diet.

When you follow this diet, your eating pattern consists of:

  • 70-80% fats
  • 20-25% proteins
  • 5-10% carbohydrates

The first moments you follow this diet, your body will need to adjust. It is common to derive energy from carbohydrates. Withdrawal symptoms such as headaches and irritability often occur. You can minimize such symptoms by introducing more MCTs into your diet.

MCT's, what should I do with them?

MCT is the abbreviation for medium-chain triglycerides, in Dutch. Medium-chain fatty acids (triglycerides)This type of fatty acids is found in coconut oil, among other things. For comparison: meat, fish, and nuts mainly contain long-chain fatty acids (LCT).

Where MCTs consist of 6-12 atoms, LCTs consist of more than 12 atoms. The body transports the smaller MCTs through the blood to the liver where they are easily absorbed. LCTs, on the other hand, follow a longer route through the lymphatic system to eventually end up in body fat.

The different types of MCT, depending on the number of carbon atoms, are:

  • C6 = Caproic acid
  • C8 = Caprylic Acid
  • C10 = Capric Acid
  • C12 = Lauric Acid

The number of carbon atoms in a triglyceride determines how the body processes them for energy. The longer the chain, the harder the body has to work to convert the fatty acids into usable energy. MCTs are shorter and preferred as an energy source..

A MCT Oil Powder using during a ketogenic diet helps the body stay in ketosis longer. A serving of 5 grams of Purasana's MCT Oil Powder contains for example 1.75 grams caprylic acid (C8) and 1.23 g capric acid (C10).

Count on less hunger, more energy, and better concentration! And all you have to do is mix the powder into your daily coffee, shake, or breakfast.
