Description
Matcha is a Japanese green tea made with the finest tea leaves. Matcha is a shade tea, i.e. 2 weeks before picking, the tea bushes are shaded with mats or tarpaulins. The bushes respond by extra chlorophyll. Chlorophyll gives matcha its bright green colour and detoxifying properties.
The power of 10 cups of green tea
Matcha powder is 100x richer in antioxidants than regular green tea, and this is expressed in an ORAC value of 2400 H-ORAC units. In addition, matcha is a source of vitamins C, E, potassium, calcium, iron and zinc.
What is good matcha powder?
A premium quality matcha is very fine and feels silky smooth. Low quality matcha is coarse in texture and feels grainy between your fingers. Good matcha also has a sweet, savoury taste.
Why not matcha on an empty stomach?
Matcha is a caffeine-rich drink (30 mg/1 g) and contributes to increased energy and alertness. Too much caffeine on an empty stomach can cause nausea. Drinking Matcha with or after a meal helps the digestion of that meal.
Premium Matcha: usage
Add 3g of matcha powder to 200ml of soya or rice drink for a shake, or 1g to 70-100ml of near-hot water for an invigorating tea. Add some extra punch to smoothies, juices or lattés with a scoop of Classic Matcha!
Please note: Matcha powder is not suitable for children, pregnant or breastfeeding women due to the presence of caffeine.

What is the difference between matcha and traditional green tea?
From traditional green tea, you make an infusion. The green tea leaves are infused for several minutes, the leaves are then discarded and the infusion is drunk; in other words, a lot of nutrients are lost.
With matcha, the tea is ground into powder, to this powder you pour hot water, the tea is mixed with the water and all the active substances of the tea leaf are drunk.

Because you drink the entire leaf, and not "just" an infusion, you get a lot more nutrients because they are not thrown away. You also get more caffeine than with a cup of "regular" green tea.
How to Identify High-Quality Matcha
- Colour: Vibrant emerald green indicates premium matcha, while yellowish or brown tones suggest lower quality.
- Texture: Silky and finely powdered, traditionally stone-ground for the best results.
- Flavour & Aroma: Fresh, nutty aroma with a sweet, umami taste, free of bitterness.
- Raw Material: Made exclusively from shade-grown Tencha leaves for superior nutrients.
- Processing: Slow, traditional Japanese methods ensure pure, high-quality matcha.
