Echinacea: Restore and protect your body

We should pay extra attention to our immunity: Echinacea.

Echinacea... What is it?

Echinacea is a plant with therapeutic components. It belongs to the Asteraceae family. Archaeologists have found evidence that Native Americans used echinacea 400 years ago to heal (burn) wounds. There are nine species of it – all naturally occurring in the eastern part of North America – three of which have medicinal properties.

  • Echinacea Angustifolia. This species has large purple leaves and a dark center. The hardy herb is used in its country of origin to treat snake bites, to remove toxins, and to ward off infections.
  • Echinacea Pallida. Has a pink color and a somewhat drooping flower. This herb stimulates the production of white blood cells and regulates the red ones. It may be anti-allergic.
  • Echinacea Purpurea. Is well-known to us and is also called the coneflower. It has red-purple flowers and can grow quite large. It strengthens the immune system and is the most researched and most used.
Echinacea... The benefits

Three out of nine with medicinal properties, of which the latter is the most well-known in the Western world: Echinacea Purpurea. Its effects have been studied and confirmed by numerous research studies in the 20th century. Containing nutrients such as alkylamides, various essential oils, proteins, resins, vitamin C, and minerals like iron, silicon, and aluminum, Echinacea offers miraculous remedies. For what exactly?

  • For throat, nose, and ear. Improves the immune response of the body, allowing for more efficient combat against disease-causing bacteria and viruses. It can be used preventively. Therefore, it is particularly recommended for use in cases of bacterial and viral infections, colds, flu, and sore throat, and especially crucial for this month: in cases of reduced immunity.
  • For the skin. The immune-boosting properties of Echinacea, in conjunction with its antibacterial and antiviral characteristics, help combat skin conditions. Echinacea is therefore widely used for skin diseases such as acne, eczema, and many others.
With all the benefits of Echinacea, it’s no wonder that this remedy could and perhaps should adorn your month: Echinacea.
