Targeted improvements
We measure our emissions and explore where we can further reduce them within our own operations and value chain, using the ESG criteria and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as guiding frameworks.
Our domains
We are gradually conducting life cycle assessments for selected products, considering factors such as raw materials, packaging and transport. Based on these assessments, we identify potential measures to reduce our impact.
At Purasana, we select our raw materials with care. Where possible, we give preference to organic raw materials from Europe. When these are not available, we select raw materials from outside Europe according to our quality criteria. Our certified organic superfoods are clearly identifiable by their certification. For certain animal-derived ingredients, we also apply specific, verifiable criteria, such as Marine Stewardship Council-certified fisheries and grass-fed cows. Through partnerships with partners such as Forena, we also take concrete steps within our production.
We carefully select our raw materials based on their origin, quality and relevant certifications. Where possible, we work with certified suppliers and choose ingredients from regions suited to their cultivation. Our IFS certification supports our quality and food safety processes. We also make targeted choices for our packaging and marketing materials, such as using recycled paper, wooden displays and reusable water bottles.
For part of the production of our superfoods, we work with Forena, which provides employment opportunities for people who face barriers to entering the labour market. When selecting suppliers, we also take relevant social criteria and certifications into account. In this way, we make conscious, and above all concrete, choices from a social perspective.
We aim to reduce waste by using one hundred percent recycled PET plastic for products like our . Our kombucha bottles have 'tethered caps', which stay attached to the bottle, helping to reduce plastic waste in the environment. We are continuously improving, with plans to introduce globally recyclable mono-material pouches for our superfoods and proteins. We also reduce energy consumption by using paper labels on our glass bottles.
We continue to evaluate and improve our packaging step by step. For our aloe vera juice and collagen, we use packaging made from 100% recycled PET. Our kombucha bottles feature tethered caps, which remain attached to the bottle after opening. For our superfoods and proteins, we are also exploring the use of mono-material pouches. We also make targeted material choices for other packaging components, such as paper labels for our glass bottles.
We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint by optimizing transport frequencies and working with carbon-neutral delivery services. We use energy-efficient equipment, encourage cycling to work, and are electrifying our vehicle fleet. Additionally, we are exploring carbon offset projects such as forest planting to further minimize our carbon dioxide impact.
Our range includes a variety of organic and plant-based products, with a focus on quality and composition. Inspired by the idea that "food is medicine," our products, such as spirulina and chlorella, are nutrient-rich and organically certified. In addition, we are exploring possible improvements in the areas of raw materials, packaging and transport.
Six key areas, three strong pillars and one clear ambition: at Purasana, we develop products with care for your well-being, people and the environment.
