Description
The blue flowers of the chia (Salvia hispanica), a Central American plant in the mint family, provide tiny moisture-absorbing seeds.
Chia seeds in contact with water absorb up to 12 times their weight in liquid, turning them into a voluminous jelly good for digestion.
Chia seeds are also a source of vitamins B1, B3, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and copper. They also provide omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids in a beneficial ratio.
The Mexican Tarahumara people are known for their phenomal endurance during endurance runs, which is said to be due to their consumption of a drink containing chia seeds.

Can you eat chia seeds every day?
