Description
Purasana's Classic Matcha is the preferred variety for learning about the many benefits of matcha.
The origin of matcha lies in Japan, the tea country par excellence! This green tea has a thorough and careful production process in which the tea leaves are picked, steamed and ground into powder. The result is a refined powder with a mild flavour.
How healthy is matcha?
Matcha has a bright green colour, indicating the presence of the detoxifying compound chlorophyll. Besides chlorophyll, Classic Matcha contains trace amounts of vitamins A, C and E, as well as calcium, potassium and iron.
Matcha is a caffeine-rich drink (23 mg/1 g) and thus contributes to increased energy and alertness.
Finally, matcha is an important source of antioxidants and this is expressed in an ORAC value of 3100 H-ORAC units.
Can you drink Classic Matcha every day?
Absolutely! Add 3g of matcha to 200ml of soy or rice drink for a shake, or 1g to 70-100ml of near-hot water for an invigorating tea. Add some extra punch to smoothies, juices or lattés with a scoop of Classic Matcha!
Please note: Matcha powder is not suitable for children, pregnant or breastfeeding women due to the presence of caffeine.

What is the difference between matcha and traditional green tea?
From traditional green tea, you make an infusion. The green tea leaves are infused for several minutes, the leaves are then discarded and the infusion is drunk; in other words, a lot of nutrients are lost.
With matcha, the tea is ground into powder, to this powder you pour hot water, the tea is mixed with the water and all the active substances of the tea leaf are drunk.
With matcha, the tea is ground into powder, to this powder you pour hot water, the tea is mixed with the water and all the active substances of the tea leaf are drunk.
Because you drink the entire leaf, and not "just" an infusion, you get a lot more nutrients because they are not thrown away. You also get more caffeine than with a cup of "regular" green tea.
